Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory is looking for a licensed funeral director to begin immediately. Job Summary: We are searching for a licensed funeral director to fill an immediate opening at our funeral home. This position involves working directly with families to arrange and carry out funeral, memorial, and cremation services in accordance with the families’ wishes and cultural or religious practices. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, team oriented and respectful of the important role we play in the lives of the families we serve. Key Responsibilities: Meet with families who have experienced a loss. Ensure all arrangements are carried out with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail while maintaining accurate and complete case information throughout the planning process. Coordinate with staff, clergy, cemeteries, vault company, vendors and other service providers. Lead funerals, visitations, memorials and graveside services. Complete the preparation and filing of necessary documentation, such as death certificates, burial transit permits, and authorizations. Assist with removals and care center operations if needed. Participate in weekend on-call rotation. Work collaboratively with staff but also independently when needed. Work primarily out of the Urbandale office, but have the ability to travel to other locations as needed. Qualifications: Must be a licensed Funeral Director in the State of Iowa or eligible for Iowa license reciprocity. Prior experience in making funeral arrangements is preferred. Proficient computer skills and confident using email, electronic funeral home management software, and electronic documentation Take initiative and are adaptable to changing priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to serving families with care, dignity, and professionalism. Ability to organize daily responsibilities, identify next steps, solve routine problems and complete assigned work accurately and timely. Complete time sensitive tasks efficiently and accurately. Schedule: One weekday off every week Every other weekend off On-call responsibilities during assigned weekends.
